While some of the premium manufacturers now rely on a combination of thermal and night vision channels for their binocular vision thermal imaging binoculars, Nocpix has deliberately limited itself to thermal technology for its new QUEST series. The manufacturer promises that this, combined with industry-leading sensors and lenses, will provide users with the best performance at dusk, at night and during the day. We have summarised the most important details about the new devices for you here.

With the new QUEST thermal imaging binoculars series, thermal optics specialist Nocpix is now launching compact and powerful binoculars series with versatile functions combined with a minimalist design. At first glance, the new Nocpix QUEST models look very similar to traditional binoculars. Of course, this changes very quickly on closer inspection, especially when you take a look at the technical details of the QUEST models.

Depending on the model variant, Nocpix uses a state-of-the-art 640x512 pixel sensor with a pitch of 12 μm in the QUEST H35R and H50R or the smaller 384x288 pixel sensor, also with a pitch of 12 μm, in the L35R. According to Nocpix, the sensors should provide outstanding image clarity, a NETD value of ≤ 15 mK and a frame rate of 60 Hz. A combination that in turn – even in the most demanding environments – should ensure exceptionally high thermal sensitivity and exceptionally clear images. The values behind the "H" or "L" in the model designation stand for the lens diameter of 35 or 50 millimeters and the "R" behind these values for the integrated rangefinder.

Thanks to the R+ image enhancement algorithm, the QUEST models offer a detailed and precise image and present it on round 0.72-inch AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1920x1080 px, which is easy on the eyes. Automatic image stabilisation is also included. The models in the QUEST series have a maximum detection range of 2,600 m (QUEST H50R) or 1,800 m (QUEST H35R and L35R) and each have an integrated laser rangefinder (LRF), which has a measuring range of up to 1,000 m. This provides the necessary ballistic range data for trajectory correction.

Thanks to the ergonomic design familiar from traditional binoculars, the binocular thermal imaging optics of the QUEST family can be operated and held comfortably, even with one hand. In addition to the four control buttons clearly arranged on the center bridge, this is also ensured by the two scroll wheels, which can be used in the same way as a central wheel and are responsible for focusing and the infinitely variable zoom of the digital magnification.

Thanks to its innovative dual-battery design with a permanently installed 4,200 mA rechargeable battery and a replaceable 18650 standard battery, the latter can be changed quickly and also during operation in the models of the Nocpix QUEST series. Nocpix supplies the thermal imaging binoculars, which weigh around 700 grams, in a customised carrying case and with a practical carrying strap and other accessories. The new devices are already available from specialist retailers. The recommended retail price for the Nocpix QUEST L35R is currently €2,199, the QUEST H35R costs €2,699 and the flagship model in this series, the QUEST H50R, is priced at €3,199.
